She is similar to Hillary on paper, without the ‘tude.
She parallels Laura Bush in her family life, without being a wife mannequin.
Like Kathy Griffin who ironically called one of her tours “Strong Black Woman” she is naturally everything I am not.

She is easy, breezy, beautiful…as witnessed when she walked down the street with her husband at the inauguration and served soup( I think it was actually risotto) at a soup kitchen six weeks later (not a press event. or was it?).

I have always enjoyed politics and the people who make it interesting from Jello Biafra to George Will (not that interesting, but my father has a similar voice). I don’t openly speak about my politics, with the exception of disagreeing with my Catholic mother on almost everything, even then I try to reel it in.
dscn1338It’s easy to stand by Michelle, she’s not making policy, budget, crisis or economic decisions, but it seems like she’s making her own low key decisions about who she is in the white house.

The painting featured in this post is titled It’s About Beauty. It was painted in 1997 and I’ve always had it hanging up in whatever house or apartment I was living in. The woman in the picture is a model from a magazine. The shape of this women’s body is what compelled me to paint her then and now her body totally reminds me of Michelle’s. Those impossibly long legs. The thin body that is still feminine. The model poise. Those hips!
